Excerpt from Journal of Prince of Wales’s Fort by Chief Factor Ferdinand Jacobs:
​
The wind at NE Little bit of clear weather in the morn, the latter part of the day it blowed fresh to Cloudy weather & rain, this morn Mr. Walker and sailors lay’d the bare sloops at an anchor above Whale Point, the carpenter finished our stone cart, the shipwright finished one of our new warehouse with rest of the Tradesmen, myself and labour employed as before.  Our hay makers came home for provisions and informed me they have got eleven cuts hay made, and two more cut, our fishermen brought home 74 lake fish, sent an Indian man a hunting he brought me two ducks & two seal, one man a painting the officers cabins, gave our man one quart brandy each.
