What was happening 266 years ago on the Churchill west peninsula.

Excerpt from Journal of Prince of Wales’s Fort Monday, August 13, 1759 by Chief Ferdinand Jacobs:

Wind at SE with fair weather till noon then a fresh gale at E & cloudy. Sent Master Factor Norton the Sloop Master ship carpenter with three other men about 36 miles up the river to get if possible a piece of timber to make a bow keel for the Churchill Sloop. Sent 3 men up the river a fishing.  I have Spence & Isaac making bow & window shutters, the copper & one man planning two inch plank, the tailor at work for the men, 10 men hay making, one man mending nets & looks after our home nets bun get no fish, one man chinking the walls of the fort, the Smith & armor out of order, the rest of our people with the large horses draining our lime kiln, flaked the limes & doing other Factory labour, received a deer & some young geese from an Indian for which I paid him.
